You will literally use its ash more than your will spells. It's still one of the best choices for an INT/DEX build. Uchigatana with similar stats will do way more damage, and 1 shot kill with unsheathe. If you can roll through the laser, it's pretty punishable. It also costs a good bit to keep firing off in pve.
