Jun 1, 2017 · Hans Clevers’ lab was the first to describe a true organoid as we define it today, namely the de novo development of 3D self-organizing tissue in vitro from stem cells. He and Toshiro Sato used an extracellular matrix gel, called Matrigel, to do so.
Dr. Clevers is co-founder and Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board at Xilis, and the inventor of organoid technologies. He is the Principal Investigator at the Hubrecht Institute for Developmental Biology and Stem Cell Research (KNAW) and the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology, Professor of Molecular Genetics at the UMC Utrecht and Utrecht University, and Oncode Investigator.
Dr. Hans Clevers is a Principal Investigator at the Hubrecht Institute, a Professor in Molecular Genetics at the University Medical Center Utrecht, and an Oncode Investigator.
