The 366 was a good rental truck engine, but if you had to have a gasser, the 427 was a much better choice. They started using the 'Vortec' 454 instead of the old 366 and 427 starting in 1998 or so, and those pump out about 270 h.p. in medium duty trim, which ain't bad for a gasser.
